FuseWorks, a Brisbane based software company was founded in 2015 by Chartered Accountant Melissa Voss and Software Developer Scott Barber. After creating a tool to be used in house by the accounting firm Melissa and Scott both worked at (O’Connells OBM) they then realised the potential that this solution and way of thinking could have to help the industry be brought up to speed to the technology available to them.
“Our philosophy is to bring smart automation tools to the Accounting and Professional service industry to enable technology to streamline mundane, repetitive and boring tasks and free up our days!” Says Voss, who now leads the Client and Partner Relations at FuseWorks.
Voss & Barber have since grown the FuseWorks team to 10 and have continued to build a suite of solutions including their flagship product, FuseDocs, which allows Accounting firms to automate the collation process of document packs for their clients.
An opportunity the startup has tackled recently is the need for an elegant e-signing solution that provides that simple, web-based approach to signing but simplifying the process for the complex needs of accounting documentation.
“The problem with signing technology is that it is rigid around the signing responsibility of different individuals and different documents. Without the ability to break down the access and actions of a document, it means that people are either accessing documents they don’t actually need to sign or are being sent multiple links for multiple actions. This can cause huge headaches, confusion and delay especially in the accounting industry and it’s a problem that I have been wanting to solve for a while now” says Barber, who leads the product development team.
Launched in early July, FuseSign has been introduced to the Australian & New Zealand accounting industry as a simple solution to a complex need, and the feedback has already been incredibly positive.
Early access clients have been elated by the ability to provide their clients a simple and easy way to sign documents, with the ability to put together family group documentation and adjust the viewing, signing or non-viewing requirements for each specific document – meaning it reduces the administration for the accounting firm and simplifies the process for the client by making it just one link to use to access all relevant documents.
“With the need for remote working and digital communication being a priority now – FuseSign has helped us provide a seamless, affordable and easy way to efficiently gather signatures from our clients. The FuseWorks team have really put some careful thought into what accountants specifically need and take on feedback with a lot of enthusiasm, which is fantastic. Our turnaround time now has dramatically improved, and it’s testament to the design of the platform” Mathew Rees, Client Services Accountant from West Carr & Harvey Accountants and Business Consultants.
