No matter where you are based in the world, social media provides a valuable opportunity to reach existing clients and engage new clients everywhere. It introduces your brand and strengthens your message. But if you haven’t done it before, the unknown can seem a tad overwhelming. So where to start?
Always ensure your audience gets value out of every bit of communication. Don’t make it about you – it’s all about how to benefit them.
Engage and be attentive
Read up on social media platforms. Understand the benefits to your business. Ask advice and listen to feedback, communicating to the industry and your customers. You can use a social media monitoring tool such as Hootsuite to help you keep track of relevant dialogue, and it won’t take long before you start to see opportunities to contribute.
Brand consistency and your brand voice
Keep consistency across social media platforms in regards to your profile, ‘handles’ or usernames so that you are easily identifiable. Make it easy, and encourage those in the community to follow you on multiple networks. Provide authenticity and credibility of your brand. Decide in advance how you’ll engage through images, situations and language, and be true to your voice.
Effectively reach your audience
The great thing about social media is that it’s free! One blog stated that 72% of people are more likely to make a future purchase from a small business after they interact with them on Twitter. Use it to build your relationships. People trust a brand they see as familiar, transparent and honest.
How to get started
– Fill out your profile information thoroughly
– Have your objective clearly in mind – and stick to it
– Speak to your clients by keeping their perspective in mind
– Set a budget at the outset and try testing different mediums and methods
