Innovation Connections is a grant offered under the Entrepreneur’s Programme. Innovation Connections encourages and assists small/medium businesses to access knowledge, engage with researchers and foster innovation.
Innovation Facilitators engaged by the Federal Government are available to assist the applicant to assess the gaps in their business knowledge and provide specialist support which may include assistance to:
- Identify critical and strategic research needs and opportunities for their business;
- Help the business to find expertise, technology and advice to find a way that the business can work with the research sector;
- Help the applicant work with the research sector the applicant may also be eligible to apply for a match funding grant that provides direct access to research capability.
These grants include:
- Innovation Connections
- Facilitation and Research Connections
To be eligible for an Innovation Connections Facilitation, applicants must be a company and operating in one or more of the Federal government’s “Growth Sectors” being:
- Advanced Manufacturing;
- Food and Agribusiness;
- Medical Technologies and Pharmaceuticals;
- Mining Equipment, Technology and Services;
- Oil, Gas and Energy Resources; or
- Provide an enabling technologies and services to one or more of the Growth Sectors which include
- Digital Technologies
- Freight and logistics
- Infrastructure Related Construction
- Information and Communication Technologies
- Professional Services (primarily scientific services)
Grants of up to $50,000 are available on a 50/50 basis to eligible companies.
If the company is located in Northern Australia the minimum turnover is $750,000 and in other parts of Australia the minimum turnover is $1.5M. Northern Australia is defined as the whole of the Northern Territory and the area north of the Tropic of Capricorn in Queensland and Western Australia.
